People who sexually abuse children should be held accountable. Period. It shouldn’t matter whether the abuse happened 5 years ago or 50 years ago.
I’m honored to now be working on legislation in Missouri that would give survivors a chance to seek justice, even if the abuse happened decades earlier.
One thing we know about trauma is that many victims don’t come forward right away. In fact, it often takes years—or even decades—for survivors to tell their story. Unfortunately, for many of them, the courthouse doors were already closed by the time they were ready.
Rhode Island just became one of the latest states to pass a “revival window” for survivors. I’m hopeful Missouri will have this conversation too.

See story below…Many Missouri summer camps do the same. This is why we are trying to get basic safety regulations required across the board. As a mother sending my kids to camp, I didn’t realize I needed to ask questions like:
- “Have the workers had background checks?”
- “Is there an emergency evacuation plan, that workers know, in case of flood, fire, intruder…”
- “Do you have back up comms like a satellite phone if service is spotty or down?”
Basic things every daycare and school has to have in place. But not our summer camps where kids go to spend multiple nights.
Training and an earlier evacuation call likely would have saved every girl at the camp, where 25 of them died, along with two counselors, a state investigator testified.
Two local nonprofits have joined forces to boost access to plant-based alternative healthcare for veterans. Trump's recent order is a big win for them.
